Supreme Spring/Summer 2015 Collection by Alex Young

New York native and pop culture legend Supreme continues its long stay atop the streetwear game with its Spring/Summer 2015 collection. Taking cues from the era that birthed the brand, the '90s, Supreme's latest offering features stylings for the cool, reserved, and extravagant streetwalker. Plenty of outerwear, knits, sweaters, and fleece are utilized for the remaining cold days, while button-downs, tees, and headwear round out the satirical, funky, chill, and tasteful collection. Touches of sport meets everyday life with pieces like the Yankees/Supreme/'47 Brand leather varsity jacket, and Supreme's keen social commentary appears on the Malcolm X Hooded Sweatshirt. Color and liveliness for the upcoming Spring can be found in the Quilted Paradise Reversible Jacket, but the delivery is highlighted by an all cotton classic Supreme t-shirt adorned with Neil Young's sage face. Preview Supreme's entire Spring/Summer 2015 collection here and purchase it on February 19th in the brand's New York, Los Angeles, and London stores; their online store re-opens February 26th.

Pigalle Basketball Collection by Alex Young

Stephane Ashpool breathes his love of basketball into his Parisian lifestyle brand, Pigalle. You may remember last Spring Pigalle teamed up with Nike to deliver a sport range that featured Air Force 1s, shorts, tanks and headwear; the brand then moved on to open up a basketball specific store in front of it's own court, Pigalle Duperré playground. To give back to his community Ashpool created the Pigalle Basketball Club, which allows youths to participate in official regional tournaments. Coinciding with the basketball concept is the Pigalle Basketball collection that consists of fashion-oriented pieces produced with performance and technical synthetic fabrics like mesh and nylon. A luxurious aspect is added to the delivery as lambskin leather and hand-dyed cotton with natural indigo fabrics are utilized. The Pigalle Basketball collection housing fleece, tank tops, hats, and an elegant bomber jacket with two variations is available here. Sales benefit Pigalle Basketball Club's upcoming trip to Philippines as an effort to keep kids active.

Cross-Promotion and Collaboration...Just a Ploy by Maxwell Young

The expansion and popularity of streetwear has created a growing number of cross-promotional products and collaborations.  There are individuals, such as Ronnie Fieg, who have identified themselves as tastemakers able to discern the latest trends, effectively selling their observable eye to top footwear and apparel brands, like New Balance, Timberland, and Asics.  At the other end of the spectrum are unique companies who have established hold of a particular niche market--Pigalle, Mitchell & Ness, etc.--in order to sell their exclusivity to higher-end companies with a broader appeal.

Japanese-based streetwear brand, A Bathing Ape, is no stranger to these collaborative efforts, as it has partnered with watchmaker, G-Shock, Pepsi, Supreme and many others over their short 21-year history.  Continuing to disseminate the BAPE name across all industries, the clothing company has announced that it will produce a limited edition moisturizing cream in conjunction with respected cosmetics brand, Kiehl's.  The "Ultra Facial Cream" will dawn a BAPE camo label with 100% of the revenues going toward the NPO Corporation, which supports the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake.  The limited edition product will be available at Kiehl's on February 6 in two sizes: a 49g jar for $32 and a 123g jar for $56.  While some collaborations seem to make sense for both companies, I cannot seem to form a logical reason as to why a cosmetics company would partner with a streetwear company for anything but the opportunity to bump up prices on an already top-selling product.  Relevance aside, Kiehl's has broadened its scope as hypebeasts will be sure to scoop up every available A Bathing Ape x Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream.

Quiet Life "Mountain Pack" by Alex Young

For some the mountains are safe havens that offer relaxation and serenity. For Quiet Life the mountains offer inspiration as the Los Angeles based brand marks 2015 with its first project, the limited release "Mountain Pack". The six piece collection executes its Great Outdoors theme on a long sleeve shirt, short sleeve tees, a 5-panel hat crafted from a limited supply of deadstock fabric, a compass with carrying case, and a leather keychain that includes a bottle opener. Only 100 5-panels and 40 compasses were created for the limited collection. In typical Quiet Life fashion, the brand employed one of their favorite photographers, Alana Paterson, to shoot the "Mountain Pack" lookbook just outside of Vancouver, Canada on the Hurley Forest Service Road. The "Mountain Pack" will be available only at 20 shops globally and on QL's online store beginning January 22nd at 8am PST.
