Last we heard from New York's rising lifestyle brand Aimé Leon Dore was its "NY Navy" collection. Today, the King of understated classics delivers an offering with clear streetwear influences and added elegance. "0315 Pre-Fall" from ALD is a 22-piece collection that compliments the brand's sneaker collection for Puma, which utilizes the States silhouette in Oxblood, Cool Grey, and Cream colorways. The Pre-Fall collection captures Puma's casual staple featuring crewnecks, hoodies, t-shirts, and sweatpants in 100% cotton Vintage Loop French Terry. Season appropriate outerwear is also included, like the water repellent "Lightweight Popover" and "Camo Field Jacket". Matériel Supply "Elevated Tracks" Spring/Summer 2015 Collection /
"By his work, one recognizes the workman," is the French proverb that appears on Matériel Supply's website. The words speak volumes about the New York City stationed brand because it's constructed, minimal, and functional aesthetic has been identifiable collection after collection. Matériel's work is consistent and represents an outward expression of the influences surrounding the company. "Elevated Tracks", Matériel Supply's Spring/Summer 2015 collection, is the latest product of this brand identity. The run draws upon NYC life, specifically trains as they provide new perspectives, new opportunities, and new experiences for inspiration. This message is adorned to screenprinted "Infinity" and "Faces" t-shirts, as well as a distressed denim 5-Panel hat dyed by APPRVL. Aimé Leon Dore "NY Navy" Collection /
New York based lifestyle brand Aimé Leon Dore has a knack for simplistic and functional design that carries influences from the historical past. Evidence of this is seen in the brand's offering for Kith done in January that celebrated the heritage of boxing in the '60s and '70s. ALD's latest collection takes direct cues from the birthplace of form and function, the military. Every branch of the military focuses on monochromatic color schemes and minimal individual detail because uniformity is the essential; the motto of the United States Navy is "Not for self but for country". Aimé's Spring collection, "NY Navy", certainly encompasses this sentiment using solely navy, olive, and cream white hues. Along with the colors, the Navy inspiration is evident in the garment silhouettes highlighted by the flight jacket, bomber jacket, and waffle t-shirt, as well as the template branding and numbering emblazoned throughout the delivery. The basic aesthetic that accompanies Aimé Leon Dore's "NY Navy" collection is made cool because it shows appreciation to the nation's heroes while done in a NY streetwear sensibility. Read more on the collection here and shop it at Aimé's concept store April 9 - 13, from 10am to 8pm.

Drake's October's Very Own x Roots Canada varsity jackets are as highly anticipated as his music is. OVO and Roots continuously deliver a clean, hip hop elegance to the classic varsity jacket silhouette. 2015 sees more of the same as the two Toronto parties present a piece donned in black, made in Canada, and handcrafted with 100% bison leather. The contrasting trims on the cuffs, neck, and bottom of the jacket feature 100% Merino Wool. There is a snap front closure, consistent with the varsity's classical design, and 100% acetate inner lining. For locals where to buy is OVO's flagship store on Saturday, February 28th at 12pm, $878; I should also mention there are only 50 available (be on time!). Those of us not in Toronto we will have to wait for the online release at a later date. Looks are available in the gallery above.
